When you scan a QR Code using your smartphone, the page you “land” on is called a landing page.
In digital marketing, a landing page is a standalone web page specifically designed to convince your users to take the action you want them to take.
In this article, let’s talk about using landing pages using QR technology.
What is a QR Code landing page?
You might ask, isn’t that the same as a homepage?
Well, not necessarily.
You see, landing pages are a single-focused page with the goal of convincing visitors to respond to your call to action (CTA). It has minimal to no navigation elements that could potentially stray your customer away from your singular purpose.
Landing pages made using QR technology are optimized for mobile-viewing, making them easier and faster to load for over 3 billion smartphone users on the planet.
Why should you create your landing page on QR Code?
Over 3 billion people are using smartphones today, so we can safely say that people use them more than other communication devices.
This is why we should optimize our web pages for mobile viewing and ensure a great user experience for our smartphone customers.
Another reason for creating a landing page with a QR Page builder is cost. Let’s do some math.
How many digital campaigns do you launch in a year? How many of these campaigns require a landing page? Now, multiply that number with the lowest price of a domain.
If you launch many campaigns, that means you also need many landing pages. This means you have to buy individual domains for these. With a subscription to a reliable QR Code suite, you can create an unlimited number of editable QR Pages for no extra cost, saving you more money in the long run.
Now that you can see the benefits of having a QR Page for your campaign, let’s try to make one.
Can you create your own landing page without purchasing a domain?
Yes! With QR technology, it is possible to make your landing page without purchasing a domain or hosting. A great example is QR Cloud.
QR Cloud is a QR Code Marketing Suite that enables you to create dynamic links, QR Pages, and so much more.
The QR Pages feature is available with the Pro and Expert plans. But if you’re not ready for that commitment yet, the Free plan comes with a 7-day trial.
Once you’ve secured your QR Cloud account, here are the steps to create your landing page.
- On your Dashboard, click the “Create Link” button, then choose QR Page from the dropdown menu. A popup will appear, prompting you to type in a personalized QR page URL. You may leave this for a system-generated URL.
- On the Settings, you can start personalizing your QR Page with these optional customizations. Here, you can: change your short URL, change the background color or image and add a Favicon, request for verification, display or hide branding, and toggle SEO and UTM parameters. You can also change fonts and font sizes, add a password and/or sensitive content warning, or redirect your visitors to a totally different page with the Leap Link URL.
Don’t forget to click Update to save your changes.
Customizing Your Landing Page QR Code
- Once you are satisfied with the basic settings, you can now add elements to your QR Page. Click Blocks (beside the Settings button) then “Add Block”. You can now design your landing page however you want.
- Test your QR Page by clicking your link on top of the page. Once you’re satisfied with your QR Page, you can now launch it. Paste it on your social media bio or better yet, make your QR Code.
- Go back to your Dashboard and look for QR Codes. Click the “Create QR Code” button.
- Fill out the name of your QR Code and project (optional). For QR Type, select “URL” from the dropdown menu and paste the link of your newly created landing page. You can even further customize your QR Code by changing the colors and shape and adding a logo.
- Test your QR Code. Once it works as you intended, you can now save your QR Code.
Now, you have a QR Code landing page! You can now print these and send these out to spread your campaign.
Now here’s a cool hack: if you want to change your landing page, you can simply go back to your QR Page settings, click “Advanced”, and paste the link of your new landing page on the Leap Link URL.
What types of landing pages can you create with QR Code?
There are many different types of landing pages that you can make with QR Pages. Here are ten great ideas:
Hire Me
Send potential clients to your professional platform by creating a landing page that will showcase you and your services to potential clients. Use the Header block to write your name and the Paragraph block to add your job title and even your business pitch. Let your visitors find you on your chosen platform using the Link block. You may change the name of the block to “Hire Me” or “Work with Me”.
Donation Drive
If your nonprofit has a donation drive, having a QR Code that leads visitors to different options to give is a great idea. Create a compelling copy and add donate buttons using URL blocks for various donation channels as a call to action.
Free Webinar
If you are selling a course and decide to create a free webinar to funnel your customers in, the video block is your best friend. You can put a link to your TikTok, Twitch, Vimeo or YouTube video and it shows up on your landing page.
Downloadable File
Whether it is a printable budget tracker for your adulting blog, a PDF of an ebook you wrote, or a menu for your restaurant, you can upload your file using the Link block.
Newsletter Sign Up
If you want your visitors to sign up for your newsletter, use the Email Collector block.
Podcast
If you have a podcast, you can feature it on your landing page using the Anchor FM, Spotify, or Tidal block.
Playlist
Are you an artist looking to have your visitors listen to your new song? Use the Apple Music, SoundCloud or Spotify block to add your song or album on your landing page.
Influencer Social Links
If you want your visitors to find you on your social media, you can easily paste your profiles using the Socials block. There are options for Telegram, Whatsapp, Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, SoundCloud, LinkedIn, Spotify, Pinterest, Snapchat, Twitch, and Discord! You can even add your tweets or Instagram posts using the Twitter Tweet and Instagram Media blocks.
Link in Bio
Use various URL blocks to create a link to your CV, portfolio, online store, reviews page, and work marketplace profile.
Portfolio Page
Use the Image Grid block to showcase your best photographs and the URL block to your work marketplace profile.
What makes for a great landing page?
Single Focus
Your homepage is the storefront of your website. Its goal is to encourage your visitors to navigate through the website to get to know your brand and establish trust.
Typically, there are many different actions your customers can take on a homepage. They can check your services and products, read your profile and history, and look up ways to get in touch with you.
Simply, the goal of your homepage is for your customers to get to know about your business.
In contrast, a landing page has a single-minded focus: to elicit a desired response from visitors. This means there is no other information that is unrelated to the current campaign.
Call to Action
for your visitors to respond to a call to action (CTA).
You want them to sign up to your newsletter? To buy your course? To donate to your nonprofit?
Any campaign that needs your customers to do a desired action will benefit more from the single-minded focus of a landing page.
Minimal Navigation
Do you want your visitors to look around or do you want them to buy?
The most visual difference is that a homepage has links to other pages within your website while a landing page has not.
Although it is possible to have your homepage as your landing page, your homepage will likely have other links that may distract visitors from taking the specific action you want them to take.
Your landing page has little or no such link. Why? Because you do not want to give your visitors the option to window shop!
Minimal Personal Information Needed from Visitors
Because your target visitors are smartphone users, you can’t expect them to have the time and patience to type in more than a few lines. Make life a little easier for them by asking only for a few information such as their email address or phone number. Too much information requested may make our visitors get bored and abandon our call to action!
Conclusion
By now, you should be able to know what a landing page is, how it functions, what it can be used for, and how you can make the most out of it to influence visitors to respond to your call to action. Creating your landing page with QR Pages provides for a mobile-optimized user experience, which hopefully helps convince your customers to click that “Get Yours Now!” button.
